[Forte Examination Report: RA2499-G]
Student Name: Denia
Synchronist Qualification: Negative
Forte Overview:Tests reveal a Rabelle's Curve with a pronounced periodic waveform. Therefore, the student is classified as a Congenital Resonator. Her Tacet Mark is located on her chest.
Based on the files from her recommender, the subject can generate bubbles infused with Remnant Energy, which can serve as a defensive or supportive measure in combat. The Remnant Energy of the bubbles can also be detonated on command when needed.
Test results also reveal that the bubbles have a unique fluid structure, allowing them to block Voidmatter at a grade comparable to the Exostrider coating.
"Wait, isn't that the bubble maker from those Lollo Logistics ads? My niece has that same exact toy! How in the world are you supposed to stop Voidmatter with bubbles like that?"
"How did this get filed in the first place?! My goodness... Is anything in this report actually true?"
Rabelle's Waveform test sample analysis shows elliptical fluctuations and a stable Time Domain. No abnormal fluctuations were observed. Examination results are within normal parameters.
Conclusion: Resonant Criticality is within normal range. Subject stability remains robust. No history and present risk of Overclocking.
Rabelle's Curve stable. Psychological counseling is currently deemed unnecessary.
"No history and present risk of Overclocking? Have you ever seen a Resonator that can roll Voidmatter into cubes and start flinging it at people? Hiyuki even mentioned in her combat report that her Tacet Mark started tearing!"
"That's it... I'm not buying a single word from this report now. Arman, I want the complete record from the Dimmr Plains ASAP!"

To those who raised her, "Denia" was merely another asset of the Fractsidus, another pawn for the Grand Architect.
And "Denia," strictly speaking, isn't a real name at all.
In the region where she was born, people usually say "Dasvidaniya" when parting ways, meaning "until we meet again."
For human beings, a name is a parent's first gift to their children, aside from life itself. From that moment on, the child steps into the world as someone new, growing day by day, slowly adding depth and meaning to that name.
The girl chose Denia as her name because it was the only gift her family had left for her.
Even if that family only ever existed in some fleeting fever dream.
She had scoured her birth records. She even questioned if she was not something artificially constructed. But in the end, all she ever found was a blurred image of farewell in her memory.
And it's so hard to tell anything from this little piece. Whenever she brought it up with the Grand Architect, the answer was always the same: "Memories are unreliable. Let it go. It's best you don't know."
Maybe the Grand Architect had a point.
Once she had a chat with Nastasha about her friends' names, and learned of the blessings and stories they carry. Some were hopes for peace or joy. Others were wishes or dreams. All of them, in one way or another, pointed toward happiness. Yet when she asked what "Denia" meant, she received no clear answer.
It was obvious Nastasha didn't want to talk about it, so Denia stopped asking. After a year of observing and imitating humans, she had long since mastered the arts of masking and deception.
Maybe some things could never be found out.
She wasn't even sure if that hazy memory was really hers. Maybe it came from the biological original she was modeled after... Maybe it was nothing more than something the Fractsidus planted in her to keep her in line.
She had once overheard the Fractsidus researchers mention that while the human body replaces its cells and substances every few years, something always stays, to be refined time and again. That's what makes life so special.
That's especially true for those who never find their way back... Anything that manages to stick to the memories carves deep into their souls. Even just a scent. That is why some love to watch rainstorms, while others are obsessed with an unremarkable melody. Such is the human being. Always pretending to be rational, while venting all their emotions through irrational acts.
Maybe there really was a girl named Denia, once. A girl who waved goodbye to her mother.
But was that girl truly her?
Unlocks at Intimacy Lv. 2
Leaning against the solid, cold side of the Voidmatter Pod, bubbles and foul liquid forced their way into Denia's mouth and nose.
Drip. Drip. Drip.
Her senses dulled. Time seemed to stretch into forever.
She felt that everything that made her was being pulled apart. Her frequency splintered into countless threads. Her body dissolved into grot, swept away into the ocean. Then she rose again, a drift of mist moving across the world from one end to the other like the wind, brushing over colorless wastelands until she reached that familiar, decaying stretch of sky.
And the silent world gazed down at her, as it always had, without a word.
When the Grand Architect chose Denia as the "vessel" for Aleph-1's powers, the decision went beyond mere physical and frequency compatibility. Unlike other Resonators—people shaped by rich lives and deep emotions—Denia was empty. A hollow shell. And the one thing a hollow shell feels toward themselves and the world, more than anything, is "nothingness." A quality that perfectly aligns with Aleph-1's logic of existence.
And just as expected, Denia managed to embrace the power. For a split second in Voidspace, her eyes met Aleph-1's. A fleeting moment, but long enough for Voidmatter to flood her veins and organs. It granted her the power to manipulate Voidmatter particles and forged a link to Voidspace itself.
At the time, she felt only a familiar silence in the void, along with the peace that came with it.
But as the plan progressed, the Fractsidus noticed that the Resonance between Denia and the Voidborne Threnodian was rapidly declining.
The power itself remained unchanged. Something else went wrong. The vessel meant to remain hollow... wasn't. Undoubtedly, Denia failed to reach the perfection they desired.
In trying to imitate human behavior, in mimicking emotions she was never meant to feel, she had grown a fragile, aching heart.
The heart of the weak.
And with a heart like that, she could never truly become the incarnation of Aleph-1. As a result, the Fractsidus needed to fill this vessel with something strong enough to command the "void" and complete the final step in forging Aleph-1's Resonator.
Denia had always known this day would come.
Yet when that day arrived, how was she supposed to judge the life she had lived?
A puppet. A twisted monster... Or simply a single drop in an ocean that no one will ever miss.
Sometimes she would think of the time she spent at Startorch Academy. The girl in the crowd with the unexpected smile. The girl whose gentle laughter lingered in the memories of others. The lazy girl who was sometimes flustered.
Was that girl really her?
But then again, was she really not the girl?
Unlocks at Intimacy Lv. 3
A smile is a convenient tool. A low-cost way to narrow the distance between you and others.
Denia first met Sigrika during a group assignment. She sat in a corner of the classroom, idly twirling a strand of hair behind her ear while observing her classmates pair up.
An afternoon breeze drifted through the doorway, kneading the hums of vehicles from the parking lot with the clamor from the square. On the wall, a poster for a Fleet Snowfluff fan meeting rustled with a sharp, paper snap.
A hesitant voice suddenly found her, pulling her out of the little moment of comfort.
"Would you like to work on the assignment with me, Denia?"
Denia turned her head and saw the orange-haired girl with her hands clasped behind her back. Habitually, she tilted her head slightly, just to be sure the question was really for her, then deepened the smile on her face.
"Sure, why not?" she replied. "But why me, Sigrika?"
Sigrika explained that, while she knew Denia usually kept to herself, she noticed the joyful smile on Denia's face as she watched her classmates make a fuss. That made Sigrika think she must be a gentle person. The kind she'd want to be friends with.
Gentle.
Denia looked up the word later. After hearing the Grand Architect's explanation, she was certain that, when applied to her, the term carried a heavy sense of irony.
If given the choice again, Denia might have refused the invitation. A great deal of trouble could have been avoided had they never met.
Yet in that moment, she simply nodded, smiled, and told Sigrika, "Okay."
Nastasha's words from a few days ago still echoed in her ears: "The truth is, it's not that most people are not afraid of death... people simply try not to think about it."
Don't think. Don't See. Don't hear. Don't wonder.
Denia discovered that inside Startorch Academy, something stood between the students and the concept of death, shielding them from its weight.
By day, the campus was a hive of youthful energy, where something new waited to be discovered at every turn. At night, they gazed at the star charts, watching the dreams Professor Mornye painted across the sky. This sense of happiness shrouded their senses, blinding them to the harsh realities that "it" sees.
But all dreams eventually end. "It" will arrive one day.
At the time, Nastasha had ruffled her hair and told her, "Most kids your age don't think about things like this. You're still young. You've got a whole future ahead of you. You should be more vocal and happy, like your peers, instead of curling up in the library all day, or sitting here with a librarian like me talking about such heavy things."
"Death is the ultimate question of life, Denia, but it's a bit too early for you to be solving it. First, you have to find your own path."
Denia didn't really understand what Nastasha meant by those words. All she could do was visit the library less often afterwards.
She didn't want to make Nastasha sad.
Unlocks at Intimacy Lv. 4
Those close to the Grand Architect have all heard that tired story one time or another.
Once upon a time, there was a fool who became a great hero by sheer accident. To save those who were suffering, he bore an unimaginable price, a price that was never his to bear...
The Overseers had their own takes on the story's hero. Some mocked him, some hated him, and some felt sorry for him. Others just laughed it off or barely paid attention.
Yet the name the Grand Architect kept bringing up, the name that often worked wonders, was nothing more than a distant, vague lie to Denia.
She didn't even know if she counted as one of "those who were suffering." She only knew that whenever she mentioned that name, the Grand Architect would respond with mocking laughter—half aimed at Denia, half at themselves.
"You know, I also think he should be here," they'd say. "But since he's not, I guess he isn't as all-knowing or all-powerful as you'd hope."
"Such a shame, Denia. The god you needed most doesn't seem to need you."
Except Denia never thought of him as a god. If anything, she pitied him.
If everything the Grand Architect said was true, then the one they hailed as a savior was just another prisoner in a cage, left abandoned in this world. A person who bleeds. Who grieves. Who dies.
And that was exactly why there was one thing neither the Grand Architect nor that person seemed to understand: she would have stood before the Keystone anyway. Even without the Grand Architect's order.
Because Denia couldn't find an answer.
If people who chase ideals always end up paying a heavier price, doesn't that mean the ideal itself is flawed?
After all, in places that the person cannot see, there are always those who survive by more "elegant" rules. Exploitation. Betrayal. They enjoy the world he has sacrificed to protect, all while mocking the ones who throw themselves into the storm.
Why does the world always show its teeth to the kind souls? Why are those who put a price on everything the ones who endure?
And if he could so easily let go of his own past, why would he ever give up the little happiness he'd fought to grasp, just to face something as absurd and horrible as Aleph-1 for everyone else's sake?
To protect them? But who would ever understand that? What would happen when that person fell?
If the Spacetrek Collective's plans could already save the majority... then what was that person struggling to achieve after all?
Most of the time, the thoughts Denia kept buried under layers of masks were simple.
She just thought that between that person, this world, and herself, at least one of them had to be wrong.
Unlocks at Intimacy Lv. 5
Denia's consciousness kept falling, down through the endless dark.
Absorbing the final fragment of Aleph-1 into her Tacet Mark had pushed her physical form past its limit. The Voidmatter overwhelmed her once more, just as it had countless times before.
Her senses dulled. Time seemed to stretch into forever.
Funny how the ending mirrored the beginning. Everything fit nicely, enough to form a perfect circle.
But unlike the first time she'd found herself here, Denia realized she had somehow stopped trembling. Her breathing steadied, and the dread that once tightened her chest had vanished.
When that gaze met hers again, she slowly reached out a hand toward the hollow eye. Then, the same hand reaching for something clenched into a fist. She raised her index and middle fingers, pointed them right at the center of that pupil, like she was taking aim.
She saw it now. How laughable Aleph-1 really was.
A god born of a meaningless world naturally possesses nothing at all. Driven by the instincts of the void, it craved everything. Still, no matter how much it consumed, how much it destroyed, it remained as it was—alone in a world of eternal silence, forever thirsting, never satisfied, leaving nothing behind.
And the solid ground for her mockery? A heart of her own. The very thing that set her apart from Aleph-1.
Even if that heart was small, fragile, and nothing much in the grand stretch of time.
Yet this "meaningless" heart had allowed her to harbor expectations for tomorrow. Just like anyone else.
There would always be those willing to live for a lie. As a certain annoying friend once said: The heart defines who we are. And with it, one gains the right to choose. Much like how humans celebrate the day they were born, a day that marks their escape from the void with a fleeting memory and a transient shape. From that day on, they could feel the world. Feel joy. Reach out to others. And because of all that, they could create something the void could never.
Denia closed her eyes. She pictured her friends across the lands of Solaris. Sigrika, chasing birds through a sunset field. Nastasha, bent over old books in the library. And the wanderer she'd once tricked, packing up again for another long journey, somewhere far, far away.
The thought almost made her smile. She wanted to borrow that person's tone for a second and say the words with the same serious face:
"I hope they're all happy. Joyful. Free. I hope every one of their wishes comes true."
But the words caught in her throat. Too dramatic, she thought.
So she let it go. Maybe this was enough.
Not many things in this world had ever really belonged to Denia. But now, at least, she wasn't a vessel. Not a sample. Not a pawn. The void didn't own her anymore. Neither did the orders. Neither did the lies.
She just offered up the wish, quietly. From now on, she'd be right there beside them. Never leaving.
Denia had found her own path.
——
Bang.
Now that could be the sound of a good joke being cracked. The endless dark actually had an end.
Somewhere in the gloom, someone let out a soft sigh, as if they had been waiting for a long time.

A doll that Denia carries around. Far from the pretty thing you usually see, its worn body is now stitched all over with clumsy repairs, and the Voidmatter that once stuffed its shape has long since bled away.
"A broken, stubborn vessel, once shaped by the world's gaze. Now, it whispers a plea, over and over: Please, give me a heart. Any heart will do."

An ornately decorated photo album, meticulously maintained. It is clear at a glance that its owner treasures it dearly.
The Photography Fan Club at Startorch Academy gifted each member a personal album as a vessel for their cherished campus memories. Most of the pages are filled with group shots where Denia smiles quietly from the corner... It was simply her way to earn credits.
"The wilderness has no word. Perhaps it sees nothing, hears nothing, and cares not what we say. It simply reaches out, stretching toward the infinite horizon."

A device that generates massive bubbles, nothing extraordinary except for its dreamy design.
It looks more like a toy than a weapon.
Denia uses it to hide Voidmatter inside the bubbles. A small illusion of being able to protect others.
"To be honest, Aleph-1 never harbored any hostility toward us. It's simply indifferent to all things. Life and hope are insignificant noises for it. Meaningless. That's exactly why it could never understand how the darkness of Voidspace is filled with color. Those are lights from a cosmic graveyard. Starlight that faded trillions of years ago. Proof that the stars were once there."

What's so bad about a pretty illusion? Even an empty gift box is still nice to look at, right? Since people only believe the "truth" they want to believe, maybe the real truth isn't all that important. If the world is made of little lies to begin with, why be afraid of all the deception in our lives?

So, how've you been sleeping? I heard if you get enough rest, you wake up refreshed and happy every single day. Haha... Must be nice, I wouldn't know. But sleeping itself is nice, I think. After all, every time I drift off, it feels like a death rehearsal.
So... if falling asleep feels like a kindness, then maybe death isn't really all that scary, right?

You seem so sweet and dependable on the outside, but deep down… you're always a little guarded... What? Got fooled too many times that now it's just a reflex? Poor thing, that's got to be tiring. Well, it's not like I have anything to hide from you. So maybe, every now and then, you could try trusting me.

I used to think the world was rotten right down to its core. Like everything was hopeless. Meaningless. And I never believed any of the things the Spacetrek Collective likes to say. I mean, if life is such a gift, then why do babies cry the moment they're born? It's like they're scared, like they already know. They know it all just goes back to the Void, back to darkness. But... whenever someone holds my hand and shares their heart with me, I can feel that annoying warmth again. It feels real. It coaxes me. Tries to show me happiness might actually be real... Ha. What a joke.

Even now, I still believe the Void is unbeatable.
For most people, suffering has an end. They live their lives, close their chapters, and get their happy ending.
But you? Where does your suffering end? Not in any future that I can see, at least.
Still, if you do end up in the Void one day, don't panic... Because somewhere inside all that nothingness, I'll be there.
I'm a total sucker for those obscure lectures from sweet professors, plus anything warm and sugary... Oh, and those reference books that make zero sense. They help me pass out so much faster! You get it, right? It's impossible to get good sleep at home.
Well, the side effects aren't as bad now, but I'd give anything for Aleph-1 to just stop mumbling nonsense in my head.
A birthday cake, of course. The kind with tons of fresh fruit and way too much whipped cream. And candles on top, for sure... Why? Because I've never actually had one before.
I hate eating anything raw! Especially that fancy sliced meat on a platter.
Good sleep, good food, and... good friends together. Every single day.
People keep asking why I don't wear the uniform... Well, the whole point of the Academy uniform is its Voidmatter protection, right? But guess what the Academy has my Forte registered as? "Capable of creating bubbles that can isolate Voidmatter and offer protection." Hehe, surprise, surprise.
It was just... a lot of time in a dim room. Surgeries. Performance tests. Over and over... Nothing but bad memories, really. But I did like that little garden outside my room. True, they were just plants that grew under the Voidmatter's influence, but they had these colors... Unique and beautiful.

I find myself wondering... how nice would it be if Sigrika were just an ordinary girl?
Without all that weight on her shoulders. They say you eventually have to pay for being innocent, but what did the kind and pure ever do to deserve that? The world can be so cruel. It punishes the kindest people and calls it "growth." Like that makes any sense.
But through it all, Siggy has never been afraid... She really is amazing.

That miko from Ashinohara is so powerful. Like she's cheating, you know? Yeah, I'd heard the stories before. But facing that power myself was a whole different story.
She wasn't exactly what I pictured, though. Beyond all that strength and the gentleness you can tell right from her face, there's something else, almost... clinging to her. Something that won't wash away. Loneliness... or maybe regret?
If growing stronger really comes with a price, I wonder… what has she given up to get this power?

She was one of the few Overseers in the Fractsidus who would talk to me. When I was floating in the Voidmatter pod, she'd even play the violin for me. I really enjoyed her music. It's just... I never figured out how someone who could make such beautiful melodies... would ever want to help a maniac like the Grand Architect.

Professor Mornye fits every idea I've ever had of a perfect teacher: She has a soft voice, a sweet heart, she knows her stuff inside and out, and her classes are seriously intense. And the best part? She never, ever calls on me to answer questions when I'm napping in her class! Although... it might also be that no one has ever dared to sleep in her class before.

She's the legendary Fleet Snowfluff, right? I totally recognized her back in Voidspace.
The Academy's former beloved star—even the toughest professors still talk about her after all these years. Plus, she still holds the top score on every single machine at the Mind Dive Arcade! Honestly, if you want your classmates to trust you, all you have to do is try to act like her... Her charm is seriously next level.
Speaking of which... you must be really proud of her, huh? Make sure you protect her well this time. Don't ever lose her again.
Seriously? You picked me to celebrate your birthday with you? But your cake does look pretty good... Mind if I steal a bite?
Haha, just kidding. This is your big day, huh? Happy birthday!
I sincerely wish that, as you journey forward, your heart stays full of happiness, and that nothing—no matter how absurd or painful—ever truly defeats you.
Better start running. Oh? You actually got away. Hmph, lucky for you.
One. Two. Three. Four… A bit off, maybe?
Fi-five! No!
Now, a volunteer from the audience...
Want me put you down? Well, since you asked nicely… Hehe.
Surprised to see me? Haha, relax. I told you we'd meet again.
Shh... Keep this between us, will you?
Fine, fine... I'll help.
Fighting alongside you? Okay, that's new.
I'm not much of a fighter... Can I just slack off?

It feels like I can control more Voidmatter now. Hmm... Getting stronger is always a good thing, right?
Unlocks at Ascension 2
So you just need more power? I see... But to borrow my power? That's far too risky.
Unlocks at Ascension 3
Be careful. I can feel it, Aleph-1... It never really left.
Unlocks at Ascension 4
You knew the risks, and yet... you still came this far. You are just... impossible. Always. But thanks to you, I can stabilize Voidmatter now. It's a bit embarrassing to say, but... I think I want to use this power to protect everyone.
Unlocks at Ascension 5
Existence is meaningless. Life is meaningless. We are meaningless. And thinking about this meaningless world is meaningless too—or so Aleph-1 says. But meaningless as I am, I can still hear my own heartbeat. I can still hear the laughter we shared... And now, I believe some things are real. Maybe that's how it's always been: I'm more afraid of being alone than I ever was of the void.
Battle
Piece by piece!
Bit by bit!
Get lost.
Burn!
Disintegrate!
Shut up.
Oh, please…
Over here.
Surprise, surprise!
No hiding!
So annoying!
Do we have to fight?
Are we done yet?
*Yawn* I'm beat.
Meaningless fight.
I'm done being soft.
Just give up.
Enough!
Stay down!
Wanna come in?
Banish!
Devour.
Take a bite?
Please don't… pity me.
Please don't… look at me.
Please don't… forgive me.
Ashes to ashes!
Radiance no more!
Darkness. End. Permanent.
Is it my turn?
Hah. Tired of running?
Too slow.
Too close!
How disappointing.
Quiet!
Right back at ya!
Anything else?
Mm-hmm?
You're getting on my nerves.
Wait. That's not fair!
Need to focus…
Ugh... My head...
Let's get this over with.
I... I can still...
Everything, fading into oblivion...
The void, and the darkness…
Someone's still… waiting for me…
Now, do as I say.
Lend me your hand.
Wait, again?
Don't push your luck.
My body feels so light.
It's okay to fly sometimes, I guess.
Hiding something, are we?
My feet hurt…
Make it quick.
Well, better than nothing.
A little pocket money.
Can I trade these for desserts?
They'd better be worth something.
Now they're mine!
Make sure no one sees it.
