With its sword-like leaves and refreshing scent, the Blade Blossom has historically been imbued with the folkloric meaning of "warding off evil with blade leaves" by the people of Mengzhou. Every midsummer, locals gather their long, straight leaves and hang them alongside mugwort on doorframes and windows, believing they can ward off impurities and misfortune. Its tendency to bloom under the moonlight and scatter its blade-like petals in the wind is viewed as a fleeting purification ritual. Wherever the petals drift, all gloom seems washed away.
